Albert J. Menendez has carefully examined the most widely used history, English, and science textbooks in fundamentalist private schools. He documents the fact that these schools promote prejudice against people of other faiths, distort history, derogate our literary heritage, cast science in a bad light, and otherwise indoctrinate children with "visions of reality" that are incompatible with public tax support.
"Menendez gives no doubt as to the vision that is being taught by schools that are using one of the 16 major textbooks published by two fundamentalist Christian publishers. . .This study should awaken all Americans to the different levels of education being offered today." - Journal of Church and State
". . . some of the material unearthed is shocking . . ." - Theological Book Review
"Reading Visions of Reality will forever sour any fair-minded person on 'voucher' schemes for private-school education. . . . Clergy, students, and teachers would do well to read this book." - Journal of Ecumenical Studies
"An important book for all citizens, taxpayers, educators, parents, etc. because powerful sectarian special interests want all taxpayers to support these schools. This reader-friendly primer quickly brings us up to speed on the real issues motivating the movement behind the school choice issue." - EIDOS
